Shasta.com Anti-Spam Measures

An explanation of Shasta.com's effort against fighting unsolicited commercial e-mail.

In the continuing fight against unsolicited commercial e-mail, Shasta.com has been busy adding highly effective tools to help battle spam coming into our e-mail servers.

We are now checking all incoming e-mail with several publicly available blackhole lists. The purpose of a blackhole list is to maintain an active database of machines connected to the Internet that are improperly configured and have been known to send spam. No machine is added to these lists until they have been verified to have been used to send spam.

Due to the nature of the filtering, an unfortunate side-effect is that sometimes legitmate e-mail may be blocked. In the case of this happening, it is up to the originating Internet Service Provider to contact the maintainer of the specific blackhole list and to arrange to have the entry removed. Shasta.com does not control the entrys or the database of the blackhole lists that we are using, nor are we responsible for adding a Internet Service Provider to the list.
